Feeding Your Poodle

Proving your Poodle with the proper diet is a big part of proper puppy care. Purchasing the most expensive dog food you can find doesn't mean you are getting the best quality or even getting what your dog requires.

First off, you must learn how to read the labels on the back. Always make sure that the source of protein is the first thing listed. That could be fish, lamb, beef, chicken or turkey. The food needs to have all of the nutritional benefits possible for your dog to have a good diet and not taking in a bunch of filler. Feeding them a raw diet is a great option as well and it can be very simple. A raw diet may consist of meat, vegetables and cheese. It just depends on what your Poodle takes to and what you feel comfortable giving your dog.

I have been told that your dogs over all health will be in better shape on a raw diet. It can improve their coats, skin, teeth and keep them at a healthy weight. There are plenty of raw diets out there for your Poodle, you just have to find them.

I don't ever suggest free feeding your dogs. Having them on a schedule with measured amounts is the best and most responsible way to feed your pets. If they seem starving at the end of their meal, you can always offer them a bit more. This will help you gauge how much they need in the morning and evening.
