Personality of a Poodle
It's been said that the Poodle will reflect the personality of their owner. Poodles are known to be very human like and extremely intelligent. These dogs always stand out as they are very classy and elegant looking, they really have quite a presence.
Very loyal and affectionate with their loved ones, Poodles are a very popular dog breed for many reasons. They are very entertaining and definitely have a goofy side to them that you can't help but fall in love with. The Poodle breed becomes protective over their family especially when at home. They make good watch dogs, they will let you know right away when someone is near. Poodles are easy to train which makes them very desirable and they have a memory of an elephant. With that being said, it's important to be consistent in the training process because when I say they remember mostly everything, that means bad habits too.

Poodle Exercise
Poodles are very lively and playful dogs that need some kind of exercise every day. If you don't exercise him or her enough, they can become bored, depressed or even destructive just like many other animals do. Depending on the size of Poodle you have... the smaller ones can get exercise in the house or backyard but the bigger ones need more extensive exercise.
It's safe to say at least one walk a day is needed as well as some play time but sometimes you may only have time to do one or the other and that is quite alright. Walking your Poodle daily is important since your dog is in most cases in the house for most of the day. They need their time to be a dog and this will keep them in good shape as well mentally and physically.
Poodles are very smart and active dogs. They need to be challenged and stimulated. As a Poodle owner, you need to make sure you give them a lot of different activities to do through out the day that will keep their bodies in motion and their minds active. This makes for a happy Poodle.

Grooming Your Poodle
Poodles are such beautiful dogs and have quite the appearance especially when they are groomed properly. You may not know how to trim your Poodles coat but you can take care of all the other important things.
Grooming your Poodle consists of more than just a cut or shave. You need to clean their eyes (tear stains), clean their ears, trim their nails and clean their teeth. The good thing about Poodles though is that they don't shed so you don't have to worry about that. They make great pets for people who have pet allergies. You can do all of these things at home or you can take them in often and have it done professionally. That can get expensive though.
There are many ways to trim your Poodle, it just depends on what kind of look you are going for and what's easiest. You can find tutorials on the internet on how to trim your Poodle at home.

Feeding Your Poodle
Proving your Poodle with the proper diet is a big part of proper puppy care. Purchasing the most expensive dog food you can find doesn't mean you are getting the best quality or even getting what your dog requires.
First off, you must learn how to read the labels on the back. Always make sure that the source of protein is the first thing listed. That could be fish, lamb, beef, chicken or turkey. The food needs to have all of the nutritional benefits possible for your dog to have a good diet and not taking in a bunch of filler. Feeding them a raw diet is a great option as well and it can be very simple. A raw diet may consist of meat, vegetables and cheese. It just depends on what your Poodle takes to and what you feel comfortable giving your dog.
I have been told that your dogs over all health will be in better shape on a raw diet. It can improve their coats, skin, teeth and keep them at a healthy weight. There are plenty of raw diets out there for your Poodle, you just have to find them.
I don't ever suggest free feeding your dogs. Having them on a schedule with measured amounts is the best and most responsible way to feed your pets. If they seem starving at the end of their meal, you can always offer them a bit more. This will help you gauge how much they need in the morning and evening.

Dressing Up Your Poodle
Dressing up your dog isn't anything new. People have been doing this for years, it's just become much more popular within the last few years. These Poodles aren't dressed up for any particular holiday, it's just another day at the park for them. They look pretty cute and comfortable.
The Poodles in the picture above look pretty happy. Some dogs won't let you dress them up and others don't mind one bit. Whether it be for Halloween, Christmas or for cold weather... dogs always look cute in clothes.

The Poodle Breed has a very long life expectancy, longer than many other dog breeds. They are expected to live up to 18 yrs. if taken care of properly and with the right amount of exercise and good eating habits.
